NID

National Institute of Design (NID) is based in Ahmedabad and it has its campuses in Bengaluru,Gandhinagar,kurushetra, Vijayvada, Bhopal and Johrat. NID is an ‘Institute of National Importance’ as per the NID Act 2014 as well as an autonomous institute under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. As per the NID Act (18 of 2014), the institute is a statutory authority empowered to award its own degrees—Masters of Design (M.Des.) of two-and-a-half year duration and Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) of four year duration.

NATA

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is being conducted by COA since 2006, in terms of the provisions of CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983, published in the Gazette of India.It is implied that a separate aptitude test in Architecture should be conducted and such test should not be combined with the tests for admissions to Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine and other disciplines. Being the competent authority for fixing norms and standards for architectural institutions, COA has the necessary expertise to hold a Common Aptitude Test in Architecture, at national level to provide a single window system for appearing in aptitude test and to facilitate institutions, students and public at large for admission to First year of 5 year B.Arch.Degree Course at all recognized Institutions all over country.

U-CEED

UCEED will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee. Admissions to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur are done through the Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED). Students who have passed Class XII (or equivalent) and their age should not exceed 20 years in ANY STREAM (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities), are eligible to appear for UCEED.

CEED

CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is a qualifying examination for admission to Master of Design (MDes) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur and IIITDM Jabalpur, and to Ph.D programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur. Qualifying in CEED alone does not guarantee admission to any of these programmes. Admitting institutes may conduct further tests and / or interviews for the final selection / admission. A CEED score does NOT Guarantee admission. Admitting Institutes will also verify the eligibility, the category certificates and other documents along with the CEED score. The CEED score is valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of the result

Situation Test

As per the shortlisting criteria mentioned by NIFT, the weightage given to CAT and GAT exam is 50% and 30% respectively and NIFT Situation Test carries 20% weightage. In NIFT Situation Test, candidates have to appear for a practical examination at their nearest NIFT centre. At the exam centre, candidates are provided with a set of materials and they need to make 3D models using these materials to answer the questions put to them.

Studio Test

The practical test conducted by NID is known as Studio Test. It is the second phase of exam. The candidates are selected from the first round and they are called at any of the centers of NID. Here candidates are provided with a set of materials and they need to make 3D models using these materials to answer the questions put to them. They also test the drawing and analytical skills of the candidates before giving them a final selection. NID Studio Test may vary from 2-4 hours duration.
